SABAH BANGLADESH

"Strengthening Livelihood initiative for Home-Bashed Workers in SAARC Region", a SAARC Development Fund(SDF) funded project on women’s empowerment, is being implemented in all SAARC countries i.e. in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka (except India).

In Bangladesh the project has been named as ‘SAARC Business Associate of Home Based Workers Bangladesh' which is popularly known as 'SABAH Bangladesh’is registered in 2010 as a non-profit company.With its rich heritage of arts and craft, Bangladesh offers immense resources, both, by way or raw materials, and skilled artisans. The challenge is for the women to run the enterprise as a sustainable, business and market driven entity. For this, their capacities of production, organizing, collective working and marketing are to be strengthened.

SABAH Bangladesh has a strong network of more than 524 HBWs who have taken membership in the organization. SABAH Bangladesh, which is funded by SDF, has partnership with Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA) of India and Home Net South Asia (HNSA).
